Swansfield Elementary School Achieves LEED Silver Status
July 2018
Congratulations to the Howard County Public School System and Swansfield Elementary! A LEED building is more energy efficient, sustainable and economically sound. Howard County requires LEED on most public-funded buildings and private buildings over 50,000 square feet. Learn more.
Here are some details from the HCPSS website:
“In recognition of its energy efficiency and environmental friendliness, Swansfield Elementary School has achieved LEED Silver designation by the U.S. Green Building Council. The school’s recent renovation project updated and expanded parts of the school building, including a 100 seat addition and a systemic renovation of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, roofing and other facility systems.
LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system and its standards guide all Howard County Public School System construction and renovation projects. Swansfield is the 12th HCPSS school to receive LEED status, and the ninth to overachieve its original design intent.”
