Have you noticed that your energy bills have been getting more expensive? Have you already tried the usual ways to lower your bill and are still looking for additional strategies to reduce your monthly costs? In this installment of Howard County Sierra Club’s Think of the Planet Series, guest speaker Laurel Peltier facilitates an informative discussion on practical ways to lower your energy bills.

Laurel Peltier is an energy writer and advocate focused on ensuring that Maryland’s 430,000 low-income families can afford their home energy bills. She also serves as AARP Maryland’s utility advocate and chairs the state coalition that works with agencies and legislators to develop and implement programs that truly serve residential customers. Her work on residential retail choice culminated in the passage of SB1, a landmark reform of Maryland’s retail energy choice market. Beyond her policy work, Laurel volunteers with Maryland’s Critical Medical Needs Program, directly helping families manage their utility bills and access energy assistance.

As an alternative to the online event, the program will be offered in-person at the Elkridge Branch of the Howard County Library System. Register to attend in person via the HCLS website.
