What You Can Do
One of the best things you can do is to simply enjoy the outdoors – take advantage of public parks, trails, and forests. The Howard County Recreation and Parks website has lots of information about fun and family friendly locations and amenities.

Helping your community stay green is as easy as recycling, using less electricity and conserving water. If you are interested in learning more or helping us go further, we invite you to join the email list for LiveGreenHoward (in the footer of this page) to get the latest on environmental events, announcements, and programs in the County. We promise not to flood your inbox or share your email!
Another resource for finding environmental, outdoor and other volunteer opportunities with Howard County government is hocovolunteer.org. LiveGreenHoward uses this site to list available volunteer opportunities such as stream cleanups, tree planting and the Roving Radish program.
Beyond County government, the Volunteer Center Serving Howard County website is another great resource.
Check out the Local Environmental Groups page of this website to learn more about what these groups are doing and to find out about their activities, events, and volunteer opportunities. Whatever your particular environmental interest, there is something for everyone.
