The Green Building Institute (GBI) is a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on education, outreach and networking. Their mission is to foster sustainable building practices through education and example.
ACTIVITIES
- Green Building Courses — GBI offers courses on green building topics in several locations throughout Maryland and the Baltimore and metro DC areas.
- Green Building Network — an ad-hoc, informal group of professionals and interested individuals who meet to network and discuss green building topics. This free group meets the first Tuesday of every month, 6:30–8:30pm at the GBI office in Jessup.
- Maryland Green Registry — GBI supports the Maryland Green Registry, a free, voluntary program offering tips and resources to help organizations set and meet their own goals on the path to sustainability.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteers help out with workshops, staff booths at trade shows, and help spread the word about green building and sustainable living. Volunteers who assist a certain number of hours receive workshop tuition in return.
