The Earth Forum of Howard County is a monthly com­mu­nity forum for civil dis­cus­sion of cli­mate change impact and issues, and how to increase sus­tain­able liv­ing in Howard County.  The Forum brings together mem­bers of envi­ron­men­tal orga­ni­za­tions, related county gov­ern­ment employ­ees, faith com­mu­ni­ties, and con­cerned cit­i­zens to learn, dis­cuss, explore, and form action groups to address vital issues.

ACTIVITIES

The Forum’s Sun­day after­noon three-part pro­gram from 2:00 to 4:30 PM includes:

1:40 — Reg­is­tra­tion
2:00 — Key Speaker, expand­ing the topic of the Forum meet­ing
3:00 — Refresh­ments, net­work­ing, and view­ing infor­ma­tion tables
3:30 — Emphasis/Action break­out groups, inter­pret­ing the Forum’s theme or con­tin­u­ing the explo­ration of a cli­mate change topic.

• Where — The Earth Forum is spon­sored by and meets at the First Pres­by­ter­ian Church of Howard County at 9325 Pres­by­ter­ian Cir­cle, Columbia.
• When –The Forums are held on the third Sun­day of the month.  2011 Forums are sched­uled for:    Jan­u­ary 16, Feb­ru­ary 20, March 20, and April 17

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

• Assist with reg­is­tra­tion the day of the Forum.
• Orga­nize and present an Emphasis/Action group on a topic of cli­mate change that is close to your heart.
• Write arti­cles about the Forum.
• Pre­pare or post publicity.
• Bring, pre­pare or help set healthy refresh­ments for the Forum.
• Request for your group, orga­ni­za­tion, or con­gre­ga­tion to part­ner with the Forum.
