The Earth Forum of Howard County is a monthly community forum for civil discussion of climate change impact and issues, and how to increase sustainable living in Howard County. The Forum brings together members of environmental organizations, related county government employees, faith communities, and concerned citizens to learn, discuss, explore, and form action groups to address vital issues.
ACTIVITIES
The Forum’s Sunday afternoon three-part program from 2:00 to 4:30 PM includes:
1:40 — Registration
2:00 — Key Speaker, expanding the topic of the Forum meeting
3:00 — Refreshments, networking, and viewing information tables
3:30 — Emphasis/Action breakout groups, interpreting the Forum’s theme or continuing the exploration of a climate change topic.
- Where — The Earth Forum is sponsored by and meets at the First Presbyterian Church of Howard County at 9325 Presbyterian Circle, Columbia.
- When –The Forums are held on the third Sunday of the month. 2011 Forums are scheduled for: January 16, February 20, March 20, and April 17
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
- Assist with registration the day of the Forum.
- Organize and present an Emphasis/Action group on a topic of climate change that is close to your heart.
- Write articles about the Forum.
- Prepare or post publicity.
- Bring, prepare or help set healthy refreshments for the Forum.
- Request for your group, organization, or congregation to partner with the Forum.
