The Howard County Green Busi­ness Coun­cil (HCGBC) was estab­lished in the Spring of 2009 by County Exec­u­tive Ken Ulman to achieve greater envi­ron­men­tal sus­tain­abil­ity through­out Howard County. HCGBC is a newly estab­lished non-profit orga­ni­za­tion (501-C-6) founded by a group of green sec­tor busi­ness exec­u­tives.  The HCGBC mis­sion is to encour­age and facil­i­tate envi­ron­men­tal social and eco­nomic busi­ness prac­tices in Howard County through edu­ca­tion, out­reach, net­work­ing and advo­cacy. HCGBC strives to sup­port exist­ing green sec­tor com­pa­nies located in the com­mu­nity, to develop an envi­ron­ment that will draw new green sec­tor com­pa­nies to Howard County, and to help raise the level of sus­tain­able busi­ness prac­tices used by its mem­bers and oth­ers within the community.

It is the hope of HCGBC that by join­ing together, the green busi­nesses of Howard County can become a rec­og­nized cen­ter for green goods and ser­vices that reduces pol­lu­tants from our exist­ing busi­nesses, trans­porta­tion infra­struc­ture and res­i­den­tial communities.

Join HCGBC and help fos­ter a new approach to busi­ness and com­mu­nity devel­op­ment by:

  • Cre­at­ing aware­ness and accep­tance of green busi­ness practices
  • Attract­ing new green sec­tor busi­nesses and entrepreneurs
  • Rais­ing the envi­ron­men­tal pro­file of eco­nomic activ­ity in the com­mu­nity, and
  • Improv­ing the sup­port and patron­age of HCGBC members

While mem­ber­ship in HCGBC is focused on busi­nesses devoted to sus­tain­able prod­ucts and ser­vices such as:
