Since 2007, Howard County has planted more than 70,000 trees throughout its award-winning park system, along its roads, at schools and on residents’ properties to help protect our environment by cleaning our air, filtering nutrients, stabilizing soil, and absorbing stormwater.

Over 5,600 acres are permanently preserved in Forest Conservation easements.

Volunteers play a big role in the County’s tree planting efforts — every year hundreds of volunteers install hundreds of trees and shrubs across the County.
